The product itself is very good. It's just a shame that it was so easy to fall off that you had to buy an extra one. I don't know why it fell off, but it's supposed to happen if you go backwards. I've now attached it to the packrafter with a thin, strong rope through the hole in the steering fin. It would have been nice to get this tip when buying the packrafter, but now I've learned:-)

  2. Kjetil Egeland -

Agree with Per F.'s review, very good product, but the fin falls off far too easily. It obviously happens when you reverse. Another thing that sucks, it's expensive..300, plus shipping costs almost as much as the fin..200! I think that's a bit poor. You should have been made aware that it falls off easily when you buy the boat!

Yes, that's how it's made unfortunately. Hole in the fin for cord so it's probably a good idea to attach it. 90,- in shipping 🙂

I have 2 packrafters from Kipara and have never experienced that the fins have fallen off. If you don't have enough air in the packrafter, the fins can sit loose in the fasteners. I have, however, experienced breaking a fin in a rapids, but I put that down to user error and hubris on my part😀.

Does this fit the Lars Monsen packraften?

    • Kipara -

      Yes

I have 2 packraft from Kipara that I am very happy with. A friend managed to lose a fin twice this summer. Ordered a new one from Kipara and it was in the mailbox within a couple of days. I've also learned now how to attach it to the packraft. A couple of aluminum carabiners from Clas Ohlson and a strong string will make sure I don't have to do it again. Very pleased with how fast the delivery was
