Something may have happened during production, it may not have been checked properly before it was packed and shipped, and transportation may have damaged the product. It's a good idea to check the packraft before going on a trip, especially if it's a longer trip where you're more dependent on the equipment.<\/div>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<div class=\"\">\n<p>Some things to think about:<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<ul>\n<li>Inflate the packraft and leave it for a day or two at an even temperature. Is it tight? If a lot of air has escaped, re-inflate and spray soapy water all over the packraft to see if there are any leaks. Also inside.<\/li>\n<li>Tighten the valves on the packing shaft and seat and check that they are secure. Stir them a little and check that the threads are ok.<\/li>\n<li>Same with the back cushion. Inflate, close the valve and check for leaks.<\/li>\n<li>Rope kit. If you're going on a longer trip, you should bring enough to make emergency repairs in the field. Extra valves (check that they fit and are in working order) Tube and bottom material, glue, tape (Gorilla tape or similar works) and a small paintbrush are a good idea. Tape can be used to repair veins, tears in the packraft, etc. Small holes in the packraft can often be repaired with a coat of glue. Larger holes are rare, but tedious if they happen many kilometers from people if you don't have the equipment to repair them.<\/li>\n<li>The fin. Some people lose their fins. Attach a string to it and to one of the attachment points on the packrafter. If the fin comes loose, it will not disappear. If you're paddling in shallow water, it's a good idea to remove it.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<div class=\"\">Otherwise, common sense is good to have with you.
